In keeping with transparency, we wanted to update you in regards to the ongoing investigation regarding Dan Clement.
As we stated before, Dan was immediately placed on administrative leave when we became aware of the allegations which then became charges. The School Board and Church Elder Board, soon after, passed a resolution to terminate Dan Clement ’s school employment upon the receipt of appropriate documentation or a conviction establishing guilt. Since that time, Dan Clement has submitted a letter of resignation, which has been officially accepted. Therefore, Dan Clement is officially no longer an employee of Mt. Zion Christian School. We also want to reiterate that, based on the information available to us at this time, there continues to be no indication that any current or former student is connected in any way to the ongoing investigation, nor any indication that any alleged wrongdoing took place on school or church grounds.
We remain committed to the safety and well-being of our students, the integrity of our church and school, and continuing to communicate transparently as new information arises. We appreciate your continued prayers for our students, families, staff, and leadership. We trust in God’s faithfulness and continue to ask Him for wisdom and discernment in our decisions.

We wanted to update you on some recent findings regarding Dan Clement.
Dan has been formally charged with possession of child pornography. Recent information suggests that this happened at his home and that no illegal behavior happened at the church or school. The charges do not prove guilt but means that this matter will now proceed through the court system.
Local news outlets were seen taking video footage of our school building today and they asked if we would do an interview or provide a statement. We released the following statement to the media:
Mt. Zion Christian Church and Mt. Zion Christian School can confirm that on September 15, 2026, we received a search warrant from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department related to an ongoing investigation involving Dan Clement, a part-time school staff member and church elder board member.
Mr. Clement was immediately placed on a leave of absence from all church and school responsibilities and is not allowed on the property pending the outcome of the investigation.
Church and School families were notified the same day as our heart is full transparency in this matter.
At this time, there is no indication that any illegal activity occurred on church or school property. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will allow the investigative process to determine the facts. The safety and well-being of the children and families entrusted to our care remains our highest priority. Because this is an active investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time.
We recognize that news coverage may create questions and also may amplify concerns and anxiety in and outside our faith community. We remain steadfast in walking through this with transparency doing the next right thing each day, and trusting God with the rest.
We are so thankful for the flood of responses from both our church and school community thanking us for the transparency we have shown and for the prayer support being offered as we walk through this as a faith community.
We ask that you please direct all questions to our pastoral team rather than relying on social media, news reports, or speculation for information.

On 9/15/26, Mt. Zion Christian Church and Mt. Zion Christian School received a search warrant from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department as part of an ongoing investigation into an allegation involving Dan Clement, one of our school staff and church elder board members. They are investigating whether or not he has been in possession of child pornography. At this time there is no indication that any illegal activity has taken place on church or school grounds.
At this time, the investigation is being conducted by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department, and we do not want to speculate about the specific allegations or the outcome of the investigation. It is important that we allow law enforcement to complete their work and determine
the facts of the matter.
As a precautionary measure and while the investigation is ongoing, Dan Clement has been placed on a leave of absence from all responsibilities at the church and school. He will remain on leave until the investigation has been completed. Once we receive the findings of the investigation, the church and school leadership will carefully review those findings and respond appropriately.
We recognize that news of this nature can be concerning and may raise many questions. Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of the children entrusted to our care. We take that responsibility extremely seriously and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement throughout this process.
